I love this shoe because it is super light for a winterized trail shoe. Lockdown is excellent for my narrow feet. Grip is great with the metal studs. I believe that my Inov-8 Ice Talon shoes have better grip, but they are not sold anymore. I did not need Gore-Tex because I have other shoes with a built-in gaitor for when running in high snow. Cushion is fine. Maybe their newer models have softer foams, but I like this one.
This shoe sizes about 0.5 longer than the Ultra, Spark and XTRM, where a 10 works for me. In the Ice Hero a 9.5 fits better. They are lighter weight than the public specs. I love how light they feel. I wish they had even more metal spikes, but grip on ice is still very good. They have a « speedster » feel I really enjoy… and it shows in my running times. Today I ran 14KM in icy trails with them… no problem. My legs felt fine afterwards.
